Big-City Vibes Meet Small-Town Friendliness
Sitting on the corner of Queen and Walnut Streets in Lancaster, Commonwealth on Queen is a cheery escape from the busy downtown traffic just outside its angular stoop. A century ago, you can easily imagine the squat, brick building in which it resides once being home to an old-school pharmacy or hardware store.
Floor-to-ceiling windowpanes ring the southern and western walls, filling the parlor with warm sunlight throughout the day. Step through the front door, and you’re immediately greeted by a cheery coffee bar trimmed with white subway tile. The soft pine floors and ultra-modern seating give a nod to Lancaster City’s homey yet funky vibe.
Head toward the back of the room to peruse their bookshelf before settling in front of the faux fireplace. On chilly spring mornings, one can easily picture themselves wiling away a few hours with a warm cup and a good read.
The Neighborhood Kitchen
Open seven days per week, Commonwealth on Queen focuses exclusively on the BBL: breakfast, brunch, and lunch. In a hurry? Diners also can grab a to-go cup from their Euro-style coffee bar.
Morning also offers diners the opportunity to go as traditional or eclectic as they please. They dish up everything from Chorizo Sausage Gravy & Biscuits to Truffle Mushroom Toast with goat cheese, spinach, mushrooms, and truffle oil atop poached eggs.
An easy walk from downtown, Commonwealth on Queen’s midday menu supplies healthy and delicious options to power you through the afternoon. Catering to both the meatless and health conscious, they offer plenty of scrumptious vegan items, including their famous Not Your Average Reuben. A vegan Reuben? Yes, we’re also amazed!
